Owensboro Riverport Names Ed Riney as President/CEO

April 3, 2007 (Owensboro, KY) -- Owensboro Riverport recently named T. Edward (Ed) Riney as President/CEO following an extensive and comprehensive three-month search for the public river terminal and warehousing operation located on the Ohio River in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Ed Riney is a native of the Owensboro area having grown up on a farm in western Daviess County, Kentucky. He is a graduate of Brescia College holding a Bachelor of Arts degree. Ed’s previous employment experience includes Athlone Industries, the owner of the former Green River Steel mill where the Riverport’s Whaylon D. Coleman Terminal is now being revitalized and redeveloped. Ed served as Vice-President and Controller of Green River Steel until it closed in 1987.

Ed immediately joined Owensboro Publishing Company and, in 1996, rose to the rank of Publisher for the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer, a daily newspaper with a circulation of 33,000. Most recently, Ed has served as President of LinGate Hospitality Group.

In addition to his extensive and successful business career, Ed has been active in the Owensboro community have served on numerous boards including the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation.

According to Max Rhoads, Board Chair, “The Riverport board is very excited and please to have secured Ed Riney as our President and CEO. We (the Board) were impressed with his background and experience.” Rhoads continued, “People who knew him felt he had the intellect to be a visionary and help us go forward in various projects including the Coleman Terminal.” The Riverport continues to revitalize and rehabilitate the 91.5 acre Whaylon D. Coleman Terminal, located at Ohio River mile 753, as a river-oriented, tenant based industrial park.
